Ecuadorian customs...
Hello there. An update from Quito airport whilst we (still) await the bikes. We flew in Tue 21/7 without trouble and were in the hotel within an hour of arrival. We had located the freight carrier by Thu who confirmed "Estan aqui" (they are here) to our relief. Since then we´ve been involved in a (currently) endless exploration of Ecuadorian customs-clearance procedures. We´ve got a scary but efficent local agent doing the legwork, but since Thu have been waiting for the big Customs chief to sign off their release. It´s all v. tedious, but an introduction to how things work elsewhere in the world and how we could have prepared better for the process with more thorough paperwork ourselves. We´ll post further once the bikes are with us (Enshallah).

Hello Liz and Clive,
I made it onto the blog ... am I really the very first person here?! Hope you got your bikes now and all is well. Look forward to the next update.
Catherine xx
My lumocolour trail doesn't need to move far yet then! Surely you expected nothing else? Perhaps the wheels needed, er, greasing . . . Still the enforced rest will help with the acclimatisation.
Oh, "Catherine" you weren't the first here - there was another post with 6 of us commenting!

hello and what a frustrating start to your trip - getting books to Peru was a challenge I now recall. Still how nice not to be at work hey?
Walking a possibility?!
Lovely photo of the author but where is one of his companion sightseeing and dealing with customs!
Fingers crossed you get cycling soon.
A : ) x
Hallelujah!!

Just left comment in response to e-mail from Liz saying that you've FINALLY got the bikes, but now realise that it doesn't make any sense yet, as you've not announced it on blog. Hallelujah again anyway!

I see from the map that it's all downhill. Have a great time and I hope the wind is always at your back.
